TruHeat's FlexHEAT Tape system is a next generation low voltage floor heating system making in-floor heating more energy efficient and easy to work with. Our revolutionary system is an ideal way to add even gentle heat to floors in kitchens, bathrooms, family rooms, sunrooms, or any other surrounding. Thinner than a credit card, the FlexHEAT's aluminum alloy heating tape system will not raise the floor height, and often times there is no need for self-levelers or other messy mortars for floating floors which can can be installed directly on top. In addition, the ultra flexible heating tape allows the heating system to be installed even in the most unusual shaped rooms.

Features & Benefits

 

INSTALLED DIRECTLY UNDER ALL TYPES OF FLOORS


The FlexHEAT Tape covers at least 60-70% of the floor area (compared to only 15% to 20% with heating wires). This large heat transfer area allows the aluminum alloy heating element to operate at lower temperature of about 28°C (82°F) (compared to the typical temperature range of more than 60°C (140°F) at the core of a common heating wire), and still generate the required heat to the surrounding area. While wire based systems need to be buried deep into a cement layer to ensure they are safe for the user and the flooring, the FlexHEAT Tape is perfectly safe to be installed directly under all floor types. Often times, under floating floors such as laminate, LVT, engineered hardwood, the sytem can be installed without the need for a cement layer saving you on installation costs.




LOW VOLTAGE SAFETY


Traditional wire based systems use a thin copper wires which means these wires need to be heated at high temperatures to compensate for the gap between them and achieve sufficient heat output. The FlexHEAT Tape system uses low voltage to heat up the heating tape and since the tape covers a larger surface area, there is absolutely no need to use high temperatures to achieve efficient heat output. In fact, due to low voltage utilization the system operates at temperatures of 28 – 30°C (82– 86°F). The temperature of floor covering generally does not exceed 26°C (79°F) which makes it absolutely safe for all floor types.




EVEN HEAT DISTRIBUTION


The FlexHEAT Tape system covers up to 70% of the floor and the heating tape runs are packed together at minimum distances apart, thus requiring less energy to heat up the floor and the gaps between the tape runs. Having this larger surface area results in less energy required to heat the floor




LOW PROFILE


The thickness of the heating tape is only 0.5 mm (0.02 inches), meaning raising the floor height is never an issue.




SIMPLE & EASY TO INSTALL


Simply plan out the area to be heated, select a central location for the transformer box and start laying the heat tape.




MINIMAL POWER CONSUMPTION


The FlexHEAT Tape system only uses 7 watts per sqft. while traditional wire based systems use 12-15 watts/sqft.




ULTRA FLEXIBLE HEATING ELEMENT


The FlexHEAT Tape's patented aluminum alloy heating tape is super flexible which means can be folded to go in any direction. This is a huge advantage when installing the heating system in unusual shaped rooms or when avoiding areas having permanent furniture/appliances.




USE AS A PRIMARY HEAT SOURCE


Since the FlexHEAT Tape system covers more of the floor area, this means the entire room can be heated using the system from the ground up evenly without needing an additional source to heat the room.

How Does It Work?

What sets the FlexHEAT Tape system apart from other loose lay wire systems is our patented aluminum alloy heating tape. The tape is a miniscule 0.5 mm in thickness and comes in a variety of widths ranging from 6-12 cm (depending on the kit). Low voltage current is passed through the heating tape using a step down transformer which allows the heating tape to start working efficiently and effectively.
